Salute to a Canadian Soldier

In a snow-covered cemetery in Edmonton on Saturday, another brave Canadian soldier was laid to rest. More than 500 mourners attended the ceremony for Trooper Michael Yuki Hayakaze. This 25-year-old with the Edmonton Garrison’s Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) Regiment died two weeks ago fighting in Afghanistan.

In a statement of remarks provided by his Mother, “Mikey called me one day before he left Kandahar for the battlefield” Machiko Inoue said “I asked him aren’t you scared? Are you all right?” He said “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared. But I fight with the belief that we are protecting our country, the people and our families doing this.”

God bless you Trooper Michael Yuki Hayakaze, Canada will mourn your loss.
